Frequently asked questions
What is Artwork Codex?
Artwork Codex is art inventory and catalog software for artists and collectors. It turns a list of artworks into structured records with images, pricing, sales history, viewing rooms, PDF catalogs, certificates of authenticity, printable labels, and a public portfolio.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes 5 artworks, 50 images, 1 viewing room, and 3 PDF catalogs. No credit card required.
How much does Pro cost?
Pro is $9/month or $90/year in USD, £7/month or £70/year in GBP, and €8/month or €80/year in EUR — annual saves about 2 months. Both billing periods include unlimited artworks, private document attachments, unlimited viewing rooms, up to 5,000 images, and 200 PDF catalogs. A 14-day free trial is available when you sign up.
Can I try it without signing up?
Yes. The live demo on the homepage creates a 30-minute sandbox account seeded with sample artworks, contacts, collections, viewing rooms, exhibitions, and a sale. No email required.
Is it for artists or collectors?
Both. During onboarding you choose artist, collector, or both. The interface and fields adjust — for example, an artist_name field appears for collectors so you can credit the maker.
Can I import from a spreadsheet?
Yes. CSV import maps columns automatically and supports all artwork metadata including tags, artist name, provenance, and images.
Do I own my data?
Yes. Every account can export the full library as CSV and download all images as a ZIP. Data is stored under row-level security in Supabase and Cloudinary.
What does a certificate of authenticity include?
The COA includes the artwork image, title, year, medium, dimensions, edition number, a signature field, and a unique auto-generated certificate number. It is rendered in EB Garamond typography and issued as a PDF.
